So I got to thinking the other day on my drive home, "I really should start to write down some of these scattered thoughts," you know, to help process/integrate/and move forward with all that life has to throw at me. I love to talk...about everything...so why not have a blog dedicated to discussing the things I love to talk about...politics and religion. This blog will, hopefully, be a great forum for my very diverse group of friends/family to hash out some things. Please respond! I only ask (should this forum "take off") for civility.
Let me first say, if you are conservative (either politically or theologically) you will find me heretically liberal. If liberal, staunchly conservative. See...today I'm coming out of the closet (no, not THAT closet), and announcing that I am unashamedly postmodern. Yep, it's true. Now, usually people associate this with two common attitudes: 1) there is no absolute truth, and 2) "what's good/right for you isn't necessarily what's good/right for me. Both of these principles are NOT a part of my belief system. I will; however, say this, 1) While absolute truth exists, I don't believe absolute truth can be perfectly known to it's complete fullness and 2) there are SOME things in life universally applicable as "best practices" and SOME things where the different paths/attitudes/understandings may, actually, lead to the same place.
I foresee discussing a lot of Jesus, Haiti, Maine, religion, politics, philosophy, and family; but all things will be considered (sorry for stealing that, NPR).
Hopefully this will be fun and generate some great blog debates and discussion! Enjoy!
